“Nice property but let down on some things.”
The first thing we had to do was open all the windows as it smelled fusty, like sweaty socks. That didn't work so we had to buy some air freshener. The downstairs toilet had been left unflushed and the kettle in the kitchen had been left half full of water. Something in the bathroom gave me an allergic reaction each time I went in but I couldn't pinpoint what - my wife was unaffected and it is usually her that is sensitive with allergies. Bed in main bedroom very comfortable but sleep disturbance due to street light opposite shining through the curtains. (We have black out curtains at home). Location in cul-de-sac is very quiet apart from the Monday morning seagulls very noisily screeching whilst attacking and emptying the food waste bins which woke us early. Single bed in front bedroom noisy when moving about. Marks on carpet in main bedroom. Not impressed with the plethora of tissue boxes with notes stuck on them saying to refill and recycle. Unhygienic to do that and perhaps only one box might have been left as they only cost 59 pence in Aldi. Property was clean, otherwise but, unnecessarily, let down by the above.
We are disappointed to hear that your stay was not all that you expected.
In trying to maintain our high standards, on the Monday before your visit, we hired a brand-new carpet cleaner to clean both bedroom and hall carpets. This was completed that day and the house was both heated and ventilated for the 3 days before your arrival.
Apologies for the state of the downstairs cloakroom, but we shall address this issue with the Lyme Bay housekeeping team.
Regarding blackout curtains, these are available in bedroom 2 at the back for those who find difficulties with outside lights, which in the case of the street light goes out just after midnight
By choosing the property that is within 2 miles of the coast, seagulls are likely to be heard occasionally.
The single bed in the front bedroom has a brand-new mattress, so noise will not be a problem
