“On the whole we had a wonderful stay at The Stables.”

The accommodation was great, the location amazing, and so we would recommend to friend, with a couple of reservations. The first issue for us was that whilst there was underfloor heating, there was absolutely no ability for us to control this ourselves and the heat was extremely patchy. This is a first for us in any property we have ever stayed in. The weather was initially snow and ice and then the temperature jumped up over 10 degrees on the 3rd day. Whilst we completely accept that no one controls the weather, to not be able to adjust the heating according to our needs was extremely frustrating. We did phone the maintenance number a few times to ask them to adjust things but this was not ideal and certainly never communicated that we couldn't regulate the temperature of the property ourselves. Clearly in the summer this is unlikely to be an issue but in the winter we all felt it was important and certainly impacted our comfort. The facilities chap who did come to the property and bought extra radiators was prompt and helpful. Our second main point is that despite steep stone steps down to the front door and no handrail for support, there is no grit or salt box available to be able to minimise the slip hazard. We would have thought that particularly bearing in mind the logistics of entering the property and the snow and ice something would have been done about it. It was so dangerous. Again we contacted the maintenance team to ask for some salt or grit and someone did come but this was only after we had requested it. A salt box would be so easy to provide and would allow guests to ensure their own safety in such weather. Other more minor points which we all felt would have been helpful were; 1. A wall mirror in the twin bedroom (plenty of wall space for hanging one) 2. A second large frying pan. The property accommodates 8 people and one small pan is not sufficient. 3. Bigger bath towels, ones provided were very small. 4. Proper chairs rather than benches at the dining table. We should have picked up on this when we booked but benches are so uncomfortable for any period of time and we did spend a long time sitting at the table playing games. All points mentioned could be rectified with minimal cost impact. I would be happy to discuss any of our feedback further.

Thank you for the feedback we are pleased you had a wonderful stay and that you would recommend it. We always look into ways to improve our guests experience and appreciate your comments, We now have a handrail fitted next to the outside steps. The heating is on timers and in zones, being newly converted the property is very well insulated. We can turn this up or down if requested but it is a warm property especially being south and west facing. Unfortunately we have locked the system as we have had issues in the past with guests altering the temperatures and timers which means we have to carry out a manual reset, The towels and bedding are all provided by Lyme Bay holidays. We have put up in a mirror in bed 4 and placed an additional large frying pan in the property. We hope you can come and stay with us again. Property Owner
