    “Stunning views and location.”

Shower overlooking the sea is great. Has potential to be a showstopper if it was well maintained, such a shame it is not. Cleaning was poor, we rectified this as we saw little point in having the cleaners return if they did a poor job the first time. Shower overlooking the sea is great. Has potential to be a showstopper if it was well maintained, such a shame it is not. Cleaning was poor, we rectified this as we saw little point in having the cleaners return if they did a poor job the first time. All other faults were reported, they offered an electrician but we just avoided the problematic light so as not to have more disruption, other faults such as torn curtains, leaking windows and dirty carpets etc were not offered rectification but were to be notified to owner, with photographs of everything provided. 1st floor Bedroom carpet is stained, old and needs replacing. Bay window leaks, hole in the armchair, curtains don’t meet and the backings are torn. Main Toilet seat doesn’t fit. Downstairs shower head fell off, dirty toothbrush holders and foul loo brush, also needed to flush loo throughout the day to keep bad smells at bay. Sofa Cushions in sunroom are heavily stained. Main Kitchen worktop needs attention where wood has blackened and mastic is peeling off, seat pads need cleaning. The landing light is beautiful but it doesn’t always work and makes a fizz noise. It is also connected to the second floor stairs light so you can’t use if people on 2nd floor are asleep which is a bit dangerous on main staircase. Extra care is needed on the large steps down into the bathroom, not suitable for small children. Smallest double and kids beds are very hard mattresses. Sadly it is charging for the excellent views and location but not reflecting the current poor standard of maintenance and fixtures. Would not recommend especially as there are some wonderful properties in the area.

Thank you for staying at Bell Cliff House, and for your comprehensive review of our property. We are indeed disappointed to read that the property was not to your satisfaction, and will undertake a review with the letting agent in regards to cleaning and maintenance. However, I do feel a bit of balance to this review is missing. Our property has prime position in the town, it is 250 years old with original features, and uninterrupted views across the bay, horizon, and cliff tops to the left, a shower and bathroom in the main bathroom which can be used, whilst looking out at sea, dinning table in the main kitchen with views out to the cob, the hallway window with its magical gateway to the sea and the horizon, the bay window in the main sitting room, where you will see rowers or swimmers passing by first thing in the morning, and sailing boats in the distance during the afternoon, and the sound of the ocean as you wake in the morning. Why, when you consider all of this, you have dedicated 3 lines of text in your review to these show stopping features, and yet 30 lines of text regarding your cleaning and maintenance observations, and why you had only reported your grievances 3 days in to your your stay, and then declined Lyme bay holidays, offer to rectify immediately with house keeping and maintenance. We will take on board your comments, and do hope you had a nice stay in Lyme Regis irrespective of your grievances during your stay. Property Owner
