Sitting in its own grounds and approached via a private gated driveway, The Milking Parlour has ample parking and a great outbuilding which is ideal for storing bicycles, paddle boards or other sporting equipment, as well as housing the washing machine. A patio seating area runs along the front of the property creating the perfect spot to sit with a book or your morning coffee, with a further gravelled seating area where you can dine al-fresco to make the most of this idyllic setting.
An area criss-crossed with footpaths and local walks, the village of Hawkchurch is only a one-mile walk or short drive away with its pretty cottages, traditional 16th-century pub, The Old Inn, and a well-stocked village shop for picking up any essentials. The stunning National Trust site of Lambert’s Castle and Coney’s Castle, both afford breath-taking views and the nearby South West Coastal Footpath offers a wealth of scenic walks with fabulous views of the Jurassic Coast as far as Portland on a clear day.
The pretty harbour town of Lyme Regis (7 miles away) with its iconic Cobb Harbour and sandy beach is popular with beach goers and water enthusiasts alike. For those keen to take to the water, the Lyme Bay Rib Charter offers a fast full-throttle experience and the chance to view this dynamic stretch of coast from the sea.
For a day out, head to the picturesque fishing village of Beer with its limestone cliffs and pretty beach where it is easy to lose a few hours sat in a deckchair watching the local fishermen hauling their catches ashore before you finish the day tucking into some local fish and chips.

Hawkchurch is a village in Devon, England, 3 miles north east of Axminster on the border of Devon and Dorset, and about 6 miles south of Somerset. It is 4 miles north of the tourist and fishing village of Lyme Regis. Hawkchurch has a village shop which is run as a community venture. The village pub, The Old Inn, is a traditional coaching house and a hostelry which has been on the site since 1543. Nearby Axminster, which is one of Devon’s prettiest smaller towns, and has many attractions, including plenty of privately owned shops, a weekly market and excellent old inns, with one dating back 100 years with its own resident ghost! The seaside town of Lyme Regis has much to offer visitors with many craft and antique shops, galleries and cafes. The scenic coastal path offers excellent walking opportunities and spectacular views of the stunning Jurassic coast, whilst the gently shelving sands and sparkling waters of Lyme Bay provide the perfect place in which to relax and unwind.
