“We absolutely loved our stay, the cottage was exactly as described and the photos were a true reflection.”

It was characterful, homely, spacious, comfortable and perfectly furnished, not too personal or too stark, spot on. The kitchen was exceptionally well equipped and all the books and toys were impressive too. Location brilliant, Beer, beautiful. Certainly lots to love, I would highly recommend this property. Only real negative for us, all of the beds seem to have very soft mattresses, not good for bad backs.

“We loved our stay at Belmont Terrace!”

The property is situated in a perfect location, within easy walking distance of the sea front and local shops. We felt at home as soon as we walked through the door. The property was warm, clean and welcoming. We must also say a huge thank you for the welcome goodies! The beds were comfortable, and it was great to have 2 bathrooms. The kitchen-diner... well... I have never stayed at such a well-equipped holiday rental! When we book to return, we may take yeast, so that we can make the most of the bread maker!! Everything was in full working order. Thank you for a fabulous holiday!

“The cottage was lovely and comfortable.”

We particularly liked the period furniture which was in keeping with the property and facilities were good. My only observation, was 2 small areas of damp in 2 of the bedrooms. We would also recommend the provision of a longer shower mat to avoid any accidents, as the shower base was rather slippy. However, none of these observations would prevent us from staying here again.

Dear Michael, Yes, we have had some roof issues over the summer which were repaired last month and we are waiting for our decorator to go in and make it all good again. In any event, we have closed the house for January to March as we hope to have replacement wooden double glazed windows inserted into the existing frames and will be making sure everything is looking good ready for the new season. “What a beautiful place to stay.”

The house is lovely, light and spacious. The owners have taken great care in providing supplies for that initial cuppa from a long journey. Very short walk to the village with copious amounts of shops, restaurants and pubs to visit. Places to visit are lovely to walk to (albeit hard along the pebble beach to Seaton) with beautiful coastal views. Thank you.

Very spacious with all the equipment you would expect. Beer is a lovely place, the cottage was a few minutes walk to the beach pubs and restaurants. I would recommend the walk from Beer to Seaton and also the walk from Beer to Branscombe and the caves.

“What a thoughtful property owner, who has gone out of their way to make your stay so comfortable and homely.”

“Very clean and comfortable.”

Well appointed. Lovely goodies left for us in the kitchen. Close to village facilities. Couldn’t find a DVD player or any trays. Side gate didn’t keep my dog in. However, the house is beautiful, comfortable, and tastefully furnished. Thank you.

Love it. But the massive price rise for October, £300 will preclude us from returning. Such a shame. But as for Lyme Bay Holidays, brilliant company and happy to book other properties with. “Our first time at both Belmont Terrace and the village of Beer.”

The property was well presented, clean and tidy. The welcome pack was indeed most welcome ! The addition of a DVD player would have been appreciated. WiFi worked fine throughout. As this visit took place during the first week of October, many of the shops and businesses in the village were 'closed for the season'. Village 'top shop' had all we needed for last minute items. Fish and Chip Shop was incredibly expensive in our view and only accepts cash. Burton Bradstock was a good sandy beach. Sidmouth always good value with some decent shops. All in all, a good Autumn holiday.

Overall we were very happy with the accommodation and were looking to book again for next year, until we saw the price increase which has put us off I’m afraid. As far as the property was concerned the only negative was the inability to open any windows in the front living room, which could get very hot without any ventilation.

The property

An attractive and spacious period cottage situated at the end of a pretty terrace just a short walk from the village centre in Beer. With a wealth of character and charm, the property has been sympathetically refurbished and retains many original features including ornate period windows, doors and window seats. Very comfortable accommodation includes two living rooms and a conservatory style dining room and outside are two terrace seating areas, perfect for a morning cup of tea or maybe an evening glass of wine. A welcome pack for your arrival ensures a great start to your holiday and will include milk, tea and a selection of locally sourced produce and treats. With the additional bonus of two parking spaces, a rarity in such a central location, this is a delightful, historic retreat ideal for enjoying all that this beautiful seaside village has to offer. Please note: A maximum of two dogs are accepted. Supervision will be required of younger children in the garden areas. Two adjoining cottages have a right of way across the rear of the cottage but this is not their main access. About the location

BEER

Seaton 1.5 miles; Lyme Regis 9 miles; Sidmouth 9.5 miles; Exeter 25 miles.

Beer is a small picturesque fishing village on the south Devon coast near Seaton. The shingle beach is very sheltered, backed by limestone cliffs and was once fertile smuggling territory, plus contraband was hidden in nearby caves, which are now a popular tourist attraction. Beer is situated on the stretch of Devon coastline, known as the Jurassic Coast, a designated World Heritage Site, and the village offers sloping streets lined with picturesque stone houses and cottages built on many different levels of the steep valley sides. There are a good range of shops, friendly cafes, restaurants and pubs in Beer, plus just outside the village is the popular Pecorama Gardens, which are perched on the hill overlooking Lyme Bay. Pecorama boasts the Beer Heights Light Railway and indoor model railway exhibition, along with a children's play area. Beer is a unique Devon fishing village and a great place to stay.
